Three Child Friendly Apps Every Mother Should Consider

Internet gives one the jitters. With millions of information being pumped out on the daily, there is no telling where your search may lead you.

Many mothers have had to play hawks looking over their children’s shoulders to peer into their screens to be sure they are not being exposed to harmful information. Peering over the shoulders doesn’t seem enough as there is still a valid reason to be worried when one isn’t with them.

Technology plays a big part in our lives so taking it away completely doesn’t solve the issue.

However we compiled some beautiful apps with you that will definitely save you the nagging headache of leaving your child alone with an internet accessible device.

    Kiddle:

This is a browser built purposely for children. The fonts are friendly and the themes are very attractive. Above all, the search results are safe. The first three page results are results of contents specially developed for kids, handpicked and checked by the editors of the search engine. While those on pages 4-7 are from safe and trusted sites that are not necessarily written for kids but simple and clear enough. These results are also handpicked by the editors of kindle. From page 8 onwards, the results are those powered by the Google Safe search and may not be so easy for kids to understand but definitely safe.

No personal information is collected helping to protect the children from online predators. Although powered by Google safe search, Kiddle is not affiliated to Google. It works on all the popular operating systems.

You may also try Safe Search Kids by Google.

    YouTube Kids:

Videos play a vital part in Children’s education and YouTube is filled with so many great resources but there are so many others that are safe for children.

A mum once shared how she stumbled on her child watch adult themed animation on Youtube causing her to worry about the contents.

YouTube kids have original contents that are specially made for children. It is even more delightful when you find out that the contents can be tailored to suit the special need of your child.

    Mamabear:

There are very dark alleys on the internet streets and it is very necessary for parents to take the needed precautions. While you may control what they browse and what they watch, there are still ills that can’t be curtailed by these apps. For the bigger kids with social media accounts, you can use Mama Bear which helps you to keep watch over your children’s Facebook feed. That way they are kept safe from online predators. You will also be alerted whenever there are crude languages being used or when they get tagged on a friend’s photo. You can also see their check ins.

The team is working on same features for Instagram and twitter. Also, the features keep getting improved.

Offline you can receive alerts for when they leave a place, when they need to be picked up. You also get alerts for when they are driving and when they pass a certain speed limit; you can also get an SOS from them. It works on IOS and Android.

Nice one. Apps like these are needed for the continuous learning and educating of the parents. It takes a huge effort to train kids. But, it could be easier if one had the right tools at hand, such as these wonderful Apps.
