Global talent accelerator, Andela, has announced the close of a new round of funding, receiving 10 Million. This round was led by Spark Capital, a US based venture capital firm. Other investors include Omidyar Network and Learn Capital. This now amounts to $13 Million in 2 Rounds from 11 Investors.
This new funds will go towards bringing Andela’s curriculum to more countries in Africa, Europe, and North America.
Andela produces world-class developers and connects them with top employers. It finds the brightest young people in Africa and gives them the training and mentorship needed to thrive as full-time, remote developers for companies around the world.
Andela is the brainchild of Jeremy Johnson, Nigerian entrepreneur Iyinoluwa Aboyeji, American education advocate Christina Sass, and Canadian startup founder Ian Carnevale.
The first campus opened in Lagos, Nigeria and it is set to launch in Kenya this month, having received over 1,200 responses to its first Kenyan call for applications.
According to Jeremy Johnson, CEO, “Andela aims to train 100,000 software developers in Africa over the next 10 years.”
