Uber partners Airbus for on-demand helicopter rides

Uber has announced that it will be partnering with Airbus to provide on-demand helicopter rides. This means you will be able to hail helicopter rides via the Uber app.

In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Airbus CEO Tom Enders stated “It’s a pilot project, we’ll see where it goes — but it’s pretty exciting.” He also says this partnership will carve out “a new business model for helicopter operators to access a broader customer base.”

Though the report says that Airbus will “provide” helicopters for Uber’s future chopper service, it is not clear if Uber will be buying the helicopters. The report says that the joint partnership will use Airbus’ H125 and H130 helicopters for this service.

Airbus’ first order of business will be at the upcoming Sundance Film Festival
