The website of Kenyas ministry of transport has been by a Turkish Muslim group that calls itself Ayyildiz Tim. It said it decided to hack the website following the actions of the government in Kenya that it found as not respecting Islam.
“All the Muslims are together. The CYBER-WAR will appear in all the countries which do not respect Islam. Ayyildiz promises that they will visit your areas too,” it posted on the ministry’s website.
The group claims it supports terrorist organizations and could be responsible for a surge of attacks that have hit Kenya since the incursion into Somalia to fight Al Shabaab a terrorist organization.
The hack coincides with an ongoing strike by public service vehicles who are protesting the raising of parking rates by the Nairobi county government.
The director of digital media and Diaspora communications at state house is yet to issue an official statement on the hack.
