TikTok has announced strategic partnerships in Kenya with Aleph Holdings and Wowzi, aiming to bolster the nation’s creative ecosystem and stimulate economic growth. This move underscores TikTok’s commitment to enhancing its presence in Kenya’s burgeoning digital landscape.
Aleph Holdings will assume responsibility for TikTok’s sales and support operations in Kenya, providing businesses with direct access to the platform. This collaboration is expected to simplify advertising processes and offer localized support, enabling Kenyan businesses to optimize their marketing strategies on TikTok. Stephen Newton, Regional Managing Director for Sub-Saharan Africa at Aleph Holdings, highlighted the benefits of this partnership, noting that it allows businesses to transact in local currency and gain direct insights from TikTok.
Concurrently, Wowzi, a leading technology marketplace, has been appointed as TikTok’s creator management partner in Kenya. This partnership aims to empower local creators by facilitating stronger connections with brands and agencies, thereby opening new avenues for creative expression and commercial success. Mike Otieno, Co-founder and President of Wowzi, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, emphasizing its potential to unlock valuable opportunities for Kenyan creators to thrive on the platform.

Carl Jordan, Head of Sales, Global Business Solutions for TikTok in Sub-Saharan Africa, stated, “Our partnerships with Aleph and Wowzi reflect our deep commitment to strengthening the local creative ecosystem and driving economic growth. These collaborations not only empower Kenyan advertisers with unmatched access to cutting-edge digital ad formats and tailored local support but also open new doors for the immensely talented local creators to thrive and expand their presence on the platform.”
This initiative builds upon TikTok’s previous efforts to support Kenya’s creative community. In 2021, the platform launched the #LevelUpAfrica Program, designed to help creators unlock their full potential, refine their TikTok skills, and build powerful personal brands within the creator economy. Since its inception, hundreds of Kenya-based creators have benefited from tailored mentorship and personalized guidance, enhancing their presence on the platform.
The partnerships with Aleph Holdings and Wowzi are anticipated to further elevate Kenya’s digital economy. By providing businesses with streamlined advertising solutions and empowering creators with enhanced opportunities, TikTok aims to foster a more robust and dynamic creative sector in the country. This move aligns with the growing influence of social media platforms in Kenya, where TikTok ranks as the third most popular network after Facebook and YouTube, with an estimated 10.6 million users aged 18 and above.
As TikTok continues to expand its footprint in Kenya, these strategic collaborations are expected to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the nation’s digital content landscape, offering both creators and businesses the tools and support needed to succeed in the evolving digital economy.
