Eusebio |
The death has been announced of Portuguese football legend, Eusebio. Reports say that he died of a cardiac arrest in the early hours of Sunday morning.
He had been in poor health for some time and was hospitalised during Euro 2012 after suffering a heart scare in Poland.
He helped the Portuguese national team reach third place at the 1966 World Cup, being the top goalscorer of the tournament with nine goals (including four in one match against North Korea) and received the Bronze Ball award. He won the Ballon d’Or award in 1965 and was runner-up in 1962 and 1966.
