Telkom will be the 2019 Comic-Con Africa’s connectivity and gaming partner.
It has also announced a USD 77,000 combined prize pool for the teams taking pace in the Telkom VS Gaming Masters tournament. Each tournament winner will receive USD 38,500.
Comic-Con Africa, the 2019 edition being its second one, will take place between September 21-24 in South Africa.
Telkom VS Gaming is reportedly the largest e-sports league in Africa yet.
It will host the VS Gaming League Masters. Some of the video games in this league include Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS: GO) and DoTA 2.
Wanda Mkhize, Content Executive for Telkom VS Gaming, said, “The world of gaming, and esports respectively, is rapidly growing in Africa and platforms like Telkom VS gaming play an important role in facilitating the movement with tournaments that give gamers the opportunity to connect with each other.”

Comic-Con Africa first held an e-Sports tournament in 2018.
Comic-Con Africa attendees will also participate in Cosplay competitions, and listen to panels facilitated by various artists and video game developers.
Video game voice actors Troy Baker and Nolan North will host some of the panels.
Among the invited guests are SA-based artists, Warren Louw and Simangaliso Sibaya among others.
Also in attendance will be he internationally acclaimed cosplayers, Leeanna Vamp and Leon Chiro.
Actors Anthony Mackie, Daniel Gillies and William Shatner will also make an appearance.
Troy Baker and Nolan North will also host their YouTube series, Retro Replay.
