After setting Morroco, Egypt and Nigeria alight with its fast and furious way of doing business, Rocket Internet’s Jumia has now opened shop in East Africa; Kenya to be precise.
We had reported in an earlier post in January that this would happen very soon. Lo and behold, it opened shop on Friday, March 8.
There seems to be no major online store in Kenya so Jumia.co.ke would certainly rise to the top quickly. And I don’t think money would be an issue in its bid since Jumia recently got some more funds for expansion in Africa from a $26 million equity investment from Summit Partners.
I wonder how Kenyans would take to Jumia but it is expected that it would bring a better shopping experience for them.
Welcome to the Jumia fold, Kenya…
