Phoenix Hospital Group – one of the UK’s private healthcare providers with hospitals in the Harley Street Medical Area (HSMA) – has launched a new full-body cancer screening imaging service to help detect cancer in its early stages.
The Hospital launches a new full body cancer screening imaging service to assist in the detection of cancer early.
Phoenix advanced cancer screening makes use of a new method of MRI scanning known as Whole Body Diffusion Weighted Imaging (WB-DWI), a non-invasive technique developed from years of clinical research to assist in cancer diagnosis at earlier stage in apparently healthy people.
The scan takes 45 minutes and it is designed to provide a new era of screening which makes it possible to diagnose asymptomatic tumors which includes those that conventional screening programmers do not target, hence, assisting in tackling the vital challenges.
It also works by scanning areas that are not usually screened like the kidney, liver, bladder, pancreas, and non-Hodgkin lymphoma to allow radiologists deter cancer lesions that are small enough to allow an efficient early diagnosis.
Prof Anwar Padhani said: “We are delighted to introduce our new Advanced Cancer Screening that focuses on the detection of asymptomatic tumors in clients as early as possible, which as we all know is so important in regards giving diagnosed patients the best chance they can have for successful treatment. We know that early diagnosis is vital to tackling this challenge, and we are pleased to offer clients a new way to access this.”
Phoenix Hospital Group’s Advanced Cancer Screening is designed to provide a new non-invasive technique to detect cancer earlier. Like all MRI scans, which work by mapping the body using magnetic fields, the scan is beneficial as it does not involve any radiation, which is used in CT scans or x-rays.
