Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, popularly known by his stage name Wizkid is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. Wizkid is currently trending on social media and it’s all for the good reasons. Wizkid’s latest video Come Closer hit 1 million Youtube views in 24 hours, a feat no African has achieved. The video currently boasts just over 2,4 million views (and counting) just three days after it dropped. That is indeed a remarkable feat. Congratulations and keep breaking boundaries.

Wizkid set a continental record when his video “Come Closer”, which featured Drake hit a whopping million views on Youtube within 24 hours. The video currently boasts just over 2,4 million views (and counting), which is a remarkable feat.

Although the Canadian rapper Drake doesn’t appear in the video, the video has gained wide viewership. Come Closer is the fourth collaboration between Wizkid and Drake. Earlier songs the two did together were Drake’s hit single One Dance and Wizkid’s Ojuelegba remix. In February Wizkid and Drake recorded Hush up the Silence. Though it leaked on-line before it was officially released by OVO Sound Radio.

One Dance a song Wizkid and Drake both co-wrote and co-produced. The first song to hit a billion plays on Spotify and topped the Billboard Hot 100 for 10 weeks. It also reigned on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart for a record 18 weeks. It reached number one in 15 countries including the U.S, U.K, Canada and Australia.

Wizkid rose to prominence in 2010 with his song Holla at Your Boy followed by other popular singles. In February 2014, he became the first ever Nigerian musician to have over 1 million views.

Wizkid is currently signed to RCA Record/Sony Music International.
