Nigerian eCommerce startup Shoptreo secures funding to globalize local artisan products

Shoptreo, a rising Nigerian e-commerce startup, has successfully secured a new round of funding—details of which are undisclosed—to accelerate its mission of bringing locally crafted artisanal products to the global marketplace. At the heart of Shoptreo’s innovation is its commitment to unlocking economic value within Nigeria’s informal markets and underserved production ecosystems. A prime example is the Aba Artisanal Leather Cluster, one of Africa’s largest and most vibrant hubs for handcrafted leather goods.

Shoptreo empowers artisans in such communities by providing them with digital storefronts, integrated logistics, seamless payment systems, and smart inventory management tools. These resources enable local producers to efficiently meet international demand while maintaining the authenticity and quality of their craftsmanship.

In addition to its marketplace platform, Shoptreo offers strategic inventory financing to vetted distributors and bulk buyers. This financial support helps them scale operations, fulfill large-volume orders, and navigate common cash flow challenges—bridging the gap between grassroots manufacturing and global commerce.

This latest funding round was led by Rebel Seed Capital, an early-stage investment firm known for backing high-potential founders with ticket sizes ranging from $10,000 to $50,000. The investment marks a significant milestone in Shoptreo’s growth journey.

George Uteh, Founder and CEO of Shoptreo, stated:

Rebel Seed Capital’s vision aligns closely with our mission to create value in underrepresented segments of the economy. This funding will fuel our expansion efforts and help us take Aba’s world-class leather products to international markets.

With the new capital, Shoptreo plans to intensify its product development efforts, onboard hundreds of new artisans, and deepen its integration with logistics and financial service providers. These steps are aimed at ensuring smooth order fulfillment and enabling seamless cross-border commerce.

Emeka Okoye, Managing Partner at Rebel Seed Capital, expressed strong confidence in Shoptreo’s potential:

The Aba Artisanal Leather Cluster represents a massive economic opportunity. With the right digital transformation, it can unlock unprecedented levels of wealth and prosperity. The Shoptreo team has shown the hunger, drive, and execution ability needed to succeed in this space.

By combining fintech innovation with grassroots manufacturing, Shoptreo is not only transforming how African artisan products reach the world but also reshaping the future of commerce across the continent.
