Nigerian government though the Nigeria Communications Satellite company (NIGCOMSAT) has announced its readiness to launch its own Ka-band satellite solution in line with its plans to expand technology to rural communities, and to improve the delivery of ultra-high speed connectivity and content in the mainstream of Nigeria businesses. This was announced by NigComSat’s spokesman and Head of Public Affairs, Adamu Idris.
Idris said: “The Ka-band will offer an advanced satellite system affordable to Nigerians most especially at the rural communities. For a start, we are working with our partners, One Network and Clear Sky Broadband to provide Ka-band services to Nigeria’s postal service.”
He said when the Ka-band satellite solution is introduced to Nigeria NigComSat will revolutionize satellite broadband services with the aim of making it more affordable for small business and consumers.
“Once NigComSat rolls out at the launch, Nigerians can reach out to any of our partners to get improved services at minimal rates. Our Ka-band satellite covers the entire West African region,” he said.
