The Borno State government has signed an agreement with two Indian firms to assist in two very important sectors of the economy – the education and agriculture sectors.
According to Governor Kashim Shetima of Borno State, “THE partnership we are entering with Indian companies in the education and agriculture sectors in Borno state was to advance basic education and modern poultry incubators, hatchery and brooding battery cages, that can bridge recovery and sustainable development of the state.”
He said that the partnership was to enable the company assist the government and people of Borno; and adapt their technology and other services in the state’s educational and agricultural systems,
“We invited the foreign experts to the state to feel and understand our geographical, socioeconomic and political features, so that they domesticate their international technological services to meet our local needs in the two critical sectors of the economy.”
Shettima further disclosed that the two companies that signed the MoU, include Bala Industries Private Limited; and Innovation & Integration Learning Solution. According to the governor, the signatories to the memorandum of understating, included Dr. Milan Sharma and S. M. Ketkar, the deputy general manager of Bala Industries Private Ltd in that order of representation at the signing ceremony.
Amb. Baba Ahmed Jidda, Secretary to the State Government, who represented the governor said: “I sincerely hope that we will both remain fully committed to our goals with focus, resilience and an abiding faith that this memorandum of understanding; will address the state’s educational and agricultural problems that existed for over a decade.”
On the total costs of importing the education and agricultural equipment and facilities, the commissioner of Education, Alhaji Inuwa Musa Kubo and the Special Adviser on Agriculture, Ibrahim Ali said in an interview that N70 million and N160 million will be expended on the importation of agriculture and education equipment and facilities by the Indian firms.
Kubo said: “these Indian educational and teaching equipment and facilities will suite our teaching and learning environments, while the costs of acquiring the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) equipment are relatively cheaper, compared to the ones obtained and in others countries.”
