Telecoms giant, MTN, has notified the subscribers of its video streaming service, VU, that it is shutting down the service.
It stated that the service will shut down on 3 May 2017. Thank you for enjoying some of the worlds best entertainment with us.
The service was launched as MTN FrontRow on the 30th of December 2014 at only R179 a month. It was offered to MTN and non-MTN subscribers. The service was later rebranded as VU
Interestingly, the news of VU shutting down is coming just days after the company who operates the service on behalf of MTN, announced the upcoming launch of its own Video on demand service, Digital Entertainment On Demand (DEOD). It is scheduled to launch on the 4th of May
Discover Digital said DEOD will offer various subscription packages, movie rentals, and premium live TV services. In addition to subscription options, DEOD will also offer movie rentals including latest big screen release.
