Moniepoint Inc., one of Nigeria’s top fintech companies, has officially launched MonieWorld, a new digital platform aimed at simplifying remittances and financial services for the African diaspora in the UK. Moniepoint had earlier hinted on the launch some days ago. The service is operated through Moniepoint GB, the company’s UK-based subsidiary, and marks its first expansion outside of Africa.
With headquarters in London, MonieWorld is designed to address the longstanding challenges faced by African migrants when sending money back home. The mobile application, now available on both the App Store and Google Play, enables users to send money to Nigeria swiftly, reliably, and without transaction fees.
The move taps into a critical market: remittances from the UK contribute nearly 50% of the total $20.98 billion Nigeria received in 2024 alone. These inflows support everything from household expenses and education to business development and foreign exchange liquidity. MonieWorld aims to make this process smoother and more cost-effective for the Nigerian community abroad.
Tosin Eniolorunda, Founder and Group CEO of Moniepoint Inc., described the launch as “an exciting step” in the company’s mission to deliver “financial happiness” to underserved populations. “The African diaspora needs a one-stop solution to better meet its financial services needs—and improve on the current fragmented market,” he said. “Our expectation is that MonieWorld will enhance financial access for everyone involved, boosting UK-Nigeria bilateral trade and benefiting the global economy.”
MonieWorld offers a range of convenient features, including instant transfers, competitive exchange rates, and support for multiple payment methods like bank transfers, debit and credit cards, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. These options are backed by Moniepoint’s end-to-end technology stack, ensuring high reliability and user confidence.
The launch is a natural evolution for Moniepoint, which already processes over 1 billion transactions monthly across Nigeria, handling more than $22 billion in payments volume. With a user base of over 10 million businesses and individuals, the company has become a key player in driving financial inclusion across the country through services like digital payments, credit, and business management tools.
MonieWorld is more than just a remittance app. It is the first step toward a full-featured financial platform tailored for the African diaspora, with future plans to offer additional banking and investment solutions that cater specifically to migrants’ needs abroad.
This international expansion follows a period of remarkable growth for Moniepoint. The company’s revenue has grown by over 150% CAGR in recent years, and it secured a Series C funding round in October 2024. That round was led by prominent investors including Development Partners International, Google’s Africa Investment Fund, Verod Capital, and Lightrock. More recently, Visa also joined as a strategic investor in January 2025.
As Moniepoint continues its growth trajectory, the launch of MonieWorld signals a bold step toward creating a seamless financial bridge between Africa and its global diaspora—starting with Nigeria and the UK, but with ambitions to expand much further.
