Breaking news this morning is that the newly appointed Minister of ICT and Courier Services, Hon Kazembe Kazembe has heeded calls from the industry to dissolve the incompetent NetOne board, a first sign towards bringing sanity to the state owned mobile network operator.
We can exclusively confirm that the NetOne board, has with immediate effect been dissolved pending the announcement of a new one.
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of ICT, Eng Sam Kundishora confirmed that the Minister, Hon Kazembe Kazembe, has with immediate effect dismissed the NetOne board.
I can confirm that the minister has dismissed the board, more reasons will be sent to you formally but it is a fact of the matter that the board ceases operation with immediate effect.
Efforts to call the minister for detailed comment were fruitless as his phone went unanswered.
The Deputy Minister however said he will be in touch with more details, and we will keep you updated as the story unfolds.
