Uganda has approved Loon LLC’s plans to fly its internet balloons over the country.
Loon LLC’s Project Loon will see people in rural areas in Uganda gain access to the internet.
Loon is also seeking similar approval from the Kenya and Tanzanian governments.
Loon LLC is a company running under Alphabet Inc. It works to provide people in remote areas with limited mobile internet service with its high altitude balloons.

The high-altitude balloons sit 18-25km within the stratosphere. They create an aerial wireless networks capable of upto 4G-LTE speeds.
Loon’s balloons are capable of operating optimally during adverse weather conditions due to it’s high altitude.
Loon currently provides balloon-powered internet in Peru.
In 2018, Loon LLC successfully sent a test internet connection 1,000 kilometres across 7 balloons.
