IBM has announced a major expansion of its software portfolio on AWS Marketplace, now reaching 92 countries globally, including 18 across Africa. This move streamlines procurement, simplifies purchasing, and drives greater efficiencies for African businesses to access IBM’s cutting-edge technology solutions on the cloud.
African enterprises can now seamlessly purchase from IBM’s extensive suite of AI, data, automation, and security solutions directly through AWS Marketplace. This includes offerings like:
- Watsonx AI and Data platform: Powerful tools for building, deploying, and managing AI applications at scale.
- Db2 Cloud Pak for Data: IBM’s flagship database for simplified data management.
- Suite of automation software: Tools from Apptio, Turbonomic, and Instana for optimizing IT operations.
- IBM Security and Sustainability portfolios: Ensuring robust data protection and environmentally-conscious practices.
“This expansion aligns with the African Union’s Digital Transformation Strategy, empowering businesses across the continent to accelerate their digital journeys,” commented Babacar Kane, GM and Technology Leader, IBM Africa Growth Markets. “By making IBM’s solutions more accessible through AWS Marketplace, we are democratizing innovation and fostering a thriving digital ecosystem throughout Africa.”
This collaboration provides African clients a centralised platform to find, purchase, and deploy IBM software using their existing AWS committed spend. This eliminates complex procurement hurdles and frees up resources for rapid innovation.
“Both IBM and AWS play a huge role in our success,” said Uri Bechar, VP of Software Engineering, Redis. “Buying IBM software in AWS Marketplace gives us more flexibility, enables us to use our committed spend, and ultimately makes the entire process easier so we can deploy faster.”
Partnership for the Future
“IBM’s global expansion with AWS Marketplace opens up innovation opportunities for our joint customers across the world,” said Matt Yanchyshyn, GM, AWS Marketplace and Partner Services at AWS. “This expanded collaboration demonstrates our commitment to providing clients with the solutions they need to succeed in today’s fast-paced environment.”
Additionally, IBM Consulting is launching 15 new professional services and assets on AWS Marketplace, including options aligned with generative AI, to help African businesses maximize the value gained from their IBM software investments.
