The first Blackberry device was announced in 1999 by Research in Motion which introduced wireless email solution for mobile professionals. It was a breakthrough in mobile technology and it was also a huge success back then.

Here’s a fun fact; RIM execs chose the name “BlackBerry” because of the resemblance its keyboard’s keys has with the Blackberry fruit… “I bet you didn’t know that”.
The BlackBerry 850 Pager, was equipped with some pretty specs for a device that you could just carry around with you. It had a 32-bit Intel386 processor with 2 MB Intel Flash memory. According to their press release, it was “designed to be wearable, operate 24 hours per day and run on a single AA alkaline battery.” Technology has sure come a long way.
