Google is said to be talks with Indian based startup, Inmobi for a possible acquisition. The mobile advertising network which claims to have more than one billion users across 200 countries, might help to boost Google’s strength in the mobile advertising sector, which is dominated by Facebook.
According to India’s Economic Times, Google will soon carry out a due diligence followed by discussions on commercial terms.
Last month, Inmobi announced that it reached over one billion unique mobile devices on its network in Q4 2014, making it the only mobile-first advertising platform to reach this landmark milestone.
Terms and conditions for the deal have not been released.
InMobi, one of India’s first mobile startups, was founded in 2007 and it received early-stage funding from Japanese mobile operator SoftBank and venture-capital firm Sherpalo. It has offices in 17 countries and about 900 employees.
43 percent of unique mobile devices on InMobi’s network come from North America and Western Europe. The Asia Pacific market accounts for 38 percent, then Latin America with 10 percent. Inmobi pulled out of Africa and Russia in 2012 due to a change in strategy.
