The news of ‘facebook at work‘ coming soon was published last year November with Facebook aiming at enterprise collaboration. The then pilot program is now a reality which fights back against the notion that opening your facebook at work is a taboo.
According to TechCrunch, the new product simply called ‘Work’ would allow businesses to make their own self-contained social network among their employees. These are meant to mimic standard Facebook’s appearance and behaviour, News Feed and all.
Facebook’s belief is that it could effectively replace email. There is an option for Users to create a separate work login, or connect through their existing Facebook accounts; actions performed on Facebook for Work won’t show up on an employee’s regular profile.
With ‘facebook at work’, there are no advertisements or user data tracking. The strong point for this application is its familiarity. Users don’t have to go through fresh training to navigate their way around. Smaller businesses looking for a simple and intuitive way to encourage communication among employees could find a lot to like in a platform they’re already used to.
Though the company is releasing the product to app stores today, availability for download will be for a small group of partners.
