Clearwater Capital, a prominent private equity fund manager based in South Africa, has officially announced its acquisition of the temperature-controlled storage and logistics division of Etlin International through a business rescue agreement. This division, known as SnoLink Logistics, is set to continue its operations while serving its established clientele, which includes several well-known blue-chip retailers.
Harish Mehta, the executive chairman of Clearwater Capital, expressed his enthusiasm regarding the acquisition, stating; “This acquisition reflects South Africa’s evolving supply chain, offering a reliable and trustworthy route to market.” He emphasized that Clearwater has been interested in the logistics sector for several years, and this strategic acquisition aligns with their long-term vision. Mehta further noted that the deal opens up new avenues for importers of temperature-sensitive products, such as ice cream and mechanically deboned meat, enabling them to enter the South African market with increased confidence.
As part of the transition to new ownership, SnoLink Logistics will retain its current workforce of 480 employees. However, there are ambitious plans for growth on the horizon. The company is currently undertaking a national expansion initiative aimed at increasing its operational capacity by an impressive 43%. A significant component of this expansion includes the construction of a new facility in Gqeberha, located in the Eastern Cape, with construction set to begin in 2026.
Christopher Nulliah, who has dedicated over two decades to SnoLink, will continue to lead the company as its managing director. He remarked, “Navigating this new chapter under Clearwater Capital’s ownership presents an exciting opportunity for SnoLink.” Nulliah’s leadership is expected to guide the company through this transformative phase.
SnoLink Logistics specializes in a variety of essential services within the temperature-controlled storage and logistics sector. While the company primarily focuses on the importation of food products, it also plays a vital role in facilitating exports. Its offerings include comprehensive solutions for warehousing products that require frozen, chilled, or ambient temperature control, as well as port clearing services and both long-haul and fine distribution to leading retailers across the country.
In addition to its domestic operations, SnoLink is instrumental in exporting local products, such as frozen concentrate, which is utilized in the beverage industries of the United States and Europe. This dual focus on both import and export services positions SnoLink as a key player in the South African logistics landscape, poised for growth and innovation under Clearwater Capital’s stewardship.
