The seven week F-Lane accelerator program based in Berlin has selected five startups to participate in the program.
The five includes UK-based city safety platform Safe & the City, Indian maternal health platform Together for Her, German diagnostics app Boost Thyroid, Nigeria-based Rubi Health, and Ghanaian company Developers in Vogue.
Rubi Health, offers psychotherapeutic care via video chat in rural hospitals while Developers in Vogue run female-focused coding bootcamps, whose participants are accessed through an AI-based platform.
Each of the finalists receives a USD 13,400 stipend to cover living, travel and venture experiences.
The accelerator is run by the Vodafone Institute for Society and Communications, which introduces the finalists to personal mentors as well as potential business partners and investors.
The programme, which was designed to support and fund high-potential digital impact ventures focusing on female empowerment, will start in October, and will culminate in a demo day in November.
The finalists will pitch their ideas to a panel of investors and decision-makers from business, media and politics.
Previous editions of the accelerators had Uganda’s BreastIT, Mozambique’s Mowoza and Uganda’s Kaaro Health as some of the tech startups to take part in the program.
