Andela has launched a new initiative called the Andela Talent Marketplace where graduates of the Andela Learning Community (ALC) program are connected with employers of labour in their local ecosystems.
The African based software development outsourcing company has a pilot program in Nigeria in collaboration with Stutern, an already existing Talent Marketplace with experience in matching graduates with employers in this market.
The Andela Learning Community (ALC) is a network of people technologists and tech enthusiasts across Africa dedicated to learning how to use technology to solve humanity’s problems. The ALC facilitates your learning through the aid of guided mentorship from super awesome learning community ambassadors. Its goal is to provide an ever-growing population of aspiring technologists with the resources and environments they need to become world-class problem solvers.
Under the ALC program, Andela has partnered with the likes of Udacity, Google and PluralSight, to train over 30,000 learners in Mobile & Web development, Google Cloud Technology to date.
As to the reason why Andela has come up with this initiative, the company says:
“We know how difficult it is to find and hire good talent. Often, it’s not for a lack of talent that the hiring process is tedious, but because recruiters often don’t have a go-to place to select said talent from. This is one of the problems the Andela Talent Marketplace will solve. We’re aggregating a pool of technical talent who have completed the ALC program. Interested employers and recruiters will be able to choose and hire talent from that pool.
We also believe it will afford ALC graduates the opportunity to move farther along in their journeys to being technology leaders, alongside growing the local tech ecosystem.”
To access ALC graduates on Andela’s Talent Marketplace, employers are expected to fill out this form. An Andela staff will get in touch with the employers to assist with the next steps.
Early this year, Andela announced the completion of a $100 million series D funding to accelerate expansion bringing its total venture funding to $180million.
Andela currently has tech campuses in Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda
