ALX Africa, a provider of technology skills training, has formed a strategic alliance with the Patoranking Foundation to create a substantial scholarship fund valued at $500,000 (approximately R9.4 million). This initiative is designed to provide educational opportunities to young individuals who demonstrate exceptional potential.

The Patoranking Foundation, established by the renowned Afrobeats artist Patrick Nnaemeka Okorie, better known by his stage name Patoranking, is the driving force behind this philanthropic effort. The foundation’s commitment to fostering growth and development is evident in this collaboration with ALX Africa.

The Patoranking Foundation Tech Scholarship will be awarded to 40 outstanding young talents, selected for their remarkable capabilities and aspirations. The goal of the scholarship is to grant these individuals access to high-quality technology education and training that prepares them for successful careers in the tech industry.

Scholarship recipients will have the chance to immerse themselves in a range of technology-focused programs. These programs cover a broad spectrum of disciplines, including coding, software development, data analysis, and Salesforce administration. The curriculum is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills that are in high demand in the technology sector.

To complement their academic learning, the scholarship also offers students practical experience through paid internships. These internships will be hosted by some of the tech partners associated with the foundation, providing real-world exposure and the opportunity to apply their newly acquired skills in a professional setting. The statement emphasizes that this hands-on experience is a critical component of the scholarship, ensuring that students not only learn but also apply their knowledge in tangible ways.

Divesh Sooka, the General Manager of ALX South Africa, has expressed his enthusiasm about the country’s young and talented population, who are keen to leverage technology to revolutionize their career prospects, uplift their communities, and contribute to the progress of the entire African continent. He believes that the collaboration with the Patoranking Foundation and the scholarships being offered will equip these young individuals with state-of-the-art skills, while also instilling a culture of innovation and resilience. This, in turn, is expected to play a significant role in tackling South Africa’s substantial youth unemployment issue and shaping the nation’s digital trajectory.

ALX, as an African tech skills training provider, focuses on preparing the youth with both the technical and soft skills that are essential for success in the rapidly evolving global digital economy. The organization is dedicated to creating pathways for young people to excel and adapt in a world that is increasingly driven by technology.

The Patoranking Foundation, through its statement, has highlighted its commitment to empowering young leaders to access top-tier educational opportunities via its Sky Level Initiative, irrespective of their financial circumstances or background. The foundation’s ambitious goal is to make a meaningful difference in the lives of one million African youths over the next decade. By providing them with the necessary resources and opportunities, the foundation aims to contribute to the sustainable development of Africa.

Patoranking himself has commented on the potential for exceptional leaders and innovators to arise from any part of the continent. He emphasizes that financial barriers should not impede the emergence of the next great African innovator who has the potential to disrupt the status quo.

Sooka further elaborates on the need for today’s youth to be prepared for an uncertain future, highlighting the importance of agility and adaptability. ALX’s approach is centered on rethinking and reshaping skills training to align with the demands and prospects presented by the fourth industrial revolution. He stresses the necessity for educational models to focus on cultivating tech leaders and innovators who possess the most sought-after hard and soft skills. These skills are crucial for addressing the real-world challenges of tomorrow and for fostering a generation capable of driving meaningful change.

The Patoranking Foundation and ALX Africa invite all eligible and aspiring tech enthusiasts to apply for the scholarship opportunity.
