African social entrepreneurs are invited to apply for the FINCA Ventures Prize, which offers grants up to US$70,000 for solutions aiming to alleviate global poverty.
FINCA International, a non-profit microfinance organization combating poverty for over 40 years, operates FINCA Ventures. This impact investing arm supports early-stage companies in agriculture, financial inclusion, health, and education in Sub-Saharan Africa and Latin America.
The FINCA Ventures Prize welcomes applications from social entrepreneurs who bring innovative visions, disruptive business models, or new products or technologies that can have a positive impact on the poor and low income people in developing markets.
The competition will conclude with an event in Washington DC in March 2024, where finalists will give in-person pitch presentations to a panel of judges. They will celebrate the top winners in the environment and health categories. The finalists will receive grant funding of up to US$70,000 to further develop their social enterprises.
Early-stage social entrepreneurs, especially those operating in sub-Saharan Africa face significant challenges in raising capital to grow their businesses, which keeps poor and low-income people from accessing high-quality goods and services that can improve their lives.
With support from our generous sponsor, we are excited to fund young entrepreneurs to solve pressing global health and environmental issues that we hear from FINCA customers every day.
