The Young Innovators Programme, an initiative by Innovate UK Global Alliance Africa, has commenced its second installment in partnership with Ekiti State’s Ministry of Innovation, Science, and Digital Economy (MISDE) in Nigeria. The program promises a cash award of GBP7,000 (approximately US$9,000) to the victor.
Established with the aim of fostering robust UK-Africa collaborations, Innovate UK Global Alliance Africa is dedicated to expanding inclusive market access and enhancing opportunities for funding and investment through the exchange of innovation knowledge.
Supported by UK International Development via Innovate UK (GCRF) and the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), the alliance successfully launched its inaugural Young Innovators Programme the previous year. The current edition, with a focus on sustainable innovation and addressing local issues with practical solutions, is set to build upon that foundation.
The triumphant innovator of this year’s program will be awarded GBP7,000, which will facilitate access to various forms of innovation support, including mentorship, training, and startup capital.
Joshua Adedeji, the Innovate UK country lead, expressed excitement about the program’s return, stating, “We are eager to see this year’s Young Innovators Programme surpass the achievements of its predecessor. Our unwavering commitment is to empower the youth of Ekiti State by equipping them with the necessary resources and support to transform their innovative concepts into tangible outcomes.”
